Backyard gardens aren't just thriving in South Florida. They are also flourishing in the Caribbean. Jamaica, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda have all launched campaigns to get citizens to grow more.

''We call it home-based production rather than just backyard farming,'' said Owolabi Elabanjo, an agriculture extension officer with Antigua and Barbuda's Ministry of Agriculture. ``Agriculture is the key to everything in life. Everything comes back to food.''
