| NEW TREND AMONGST YOUNG DANCEHALL PRODUCERS |
mariajacksonent.blogspot...
- For the past few years the dancehall scene has been completely dominated by the likes of Vybz Kartel and Mavado. It is clear that the thinking amongst the producers was that these men were needed to guarantee the success of the project. However, one listen to the recent releases from emerging producers and you will see that is clearly no longer the case.

Rastafari has never stopped investing in I&I and so it is with this vibration that we continue to move forward. We currently have two cubs in the house who will become active members in the production and artistic expression of the family. The oldest has the heart of a Lioness and is currently home-schooled by the Empress of the house. The second and newest member to our family is a young Rasta prince in training. At 5 months old he is well ahead of the curve in all developmental aspects of life. Jah know he is my first son. Our lives are lives of positive action. Only through positive actions can positive manifestations be realized. Education (or I-JAH-Cation) as my bredrin so correctly stated is fundamental in the process of self recognition. - A state of emergency has been declared in parts of the Jamaican capital Kingston, after local gang members attacked several police stations. The men are supporters of an alleged drug lord, who could face extradition to the U.S. where he is wanted on narcotics and arms trafficking charges. - Moody's ratings agency on Tuesday, acknowledging the smooth execution of the multibillion-dollar debt exchange programme, pronounced that it was upgrading the credit score on Jamaica's sovereign bonds to B3 - the third to do so in the past two weeks - saying its decision was based, in part, on a promise of inflows of cash from multilateral institutions. more... | Haiti three weeks later |
www.boston.com/bigpictur...
- Tomorrow will mark three weeks since the massive January 12th earthquake in Haiti, and tent cities remain full, even as some businesses and factories are beginning to reopen in Port-au-Prince. Now that massive amounts of aid have arrived, distribution problems have cropped up and are being addressed. The World Food Program has begun a new system of delivering rice to 10,000 Haitians per day at each of 16 women-only distribution points around the city - restricted to women, since young men often muscle their way to the front of distribution lines, and the women are viewed as more likely to fairly divide up the food. Aid chiefs and donor nations are warning that Haiti will need at least a decade of painstaking reconstruction. more... () |

www.muzikspace.com
- A major earthquake struck just off the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, sparking a tsunami watch for parts of the Caribbean, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Raymond Joseph, Haiti's ambassador to the United States, told CNN he had little information about the extent of damage from the quake, which had a reported magnitude of 7.0. But he said the suffering inflicted on the impoverished Caribbean nation was likely to be "catastrophic." more... () |

| Multi-agency approach being taken in Jamaica to control explicit music on the air |
www.muzikspace.com
- "There were weaknesses in management controls over output, and some on-air persons lack a basic understanding of the critical role that media plays in development. In light of extensive research which reveals that songs with violent lyrics increase aggression, related thoughts and emotions, and feelings of hostility without provocation, regulatory intervention is necessary and since then, great strides have been made in building consensus around Content Standards", the Minister said. more...
