King triumphs at International Tennis Federation Championships

has become the first Barbadian to win the Barbados
International/International Tennis Federation(ITF) Junior
Championships. He did it in fine style yesterday morning at the
National Tennis Centre where he opposed and defeated Jamaican Brandon
Burke in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
En route to the final, King defeated No. 6 seed Yuta Hirokawa of Japan
6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and then went on to the semis and ousted
the No. 1 seed and highest ranked player in the draw, Rodney Carey of
the Bahamas. King, ranked 206 on the ITF circuit, comfortably advanced
past Carey without much resistance as he whipped the Bahamian in
