Nearly all gains (excluding individual quest rewards) that players earn in the new expansion will be tied to their account, meaning that alts do not need to play through the novel story to unlock the content at the end of the game (though it's not required).
The account-wide progression system is something fans have been requesting for years and it's a major win for players who have multiple different accounts. Instead of grinding the same quests over and over on various accounts, gamers will have the choice of skipping right to Dragonflight's final game content as well as play new raids in different classes, all at no cost. The new system is also accommodating to new players who have been playing on just one character, as it encourages players to make alternate characters and test new classes without fear of needing to spend their time playing stories they've had before on their primary character.
The announcement of account-wide progress isn't the only major change that Blizzard is implementing in Dragonflight. When the next expansion is out, players will have plenty to anticipate for, including brand the new UI customization options, revamped skill trees, a new flight mechanic, and more.
