Why He Can't Play Elden Ring With the Music OnFromSoftware's latest
action-adventure game, Elden Ring, has taken the world to the streets in
2022.It seems that D2R Items hadn't had enough. The game saw its
highest-ever highs for concurrent players on the Wednesday of Australian
time, after a week of constant problem with logins and crashes.
Blizzard
affirms it had "a handful of hundreds of thousands number of people
playing in one place alone"--which could either be a large number or
regular, depending on how Blizzard's servers define the regions. (A
small number of hundred thousand could be a huge feat for, say,
Australia.

One of the major issues causing all of this is how
Diablo 2 handles core pieces of player behavior. As Vicarious Visions
updated the original D2 code whenever they could, the biggest part of
the project consisted of keeping the code that was in use.
Which was fine, up until the point that it stopped being able to scale.
Diablo
2 has a particular method of pulling data in the central database in
order to ensure that players are able to do the things they want to
accomplish. Participating in a game? That's calling back to the database
central.
You'd like to switch your character? It's another way
to check central command to ensure your character is the one you wanted,
at the exact spot you left it with all the gear that you've worked for.
Diablo
2, according to the team, was created with the intention of being
centralized. It's a disadvantage in that only a single instance of the
service is able to be running at any one time, therefore they are unable
to transfer some of the workload to local servers.
"Importantly the service is a singleton. Which means that we are able to run only one instance so that all players have access to the most recent and correct game list in all times," the devs wrote. "We did improve this service in multiple ways in order to better match modern technology, but like we mentioned earlier most of our problems stem from the creation of games." For now, there's a array of quick-term solutions and plans to revamp Diablo 2 Resurrected Items foundation so that it's better able to meet modern demand. The existing service that only offers a list of games to players, for instance, is being broken out into a separate service that is its own.
