A short, short-form story about Chromie's past is prominently included within the book's collection of stories from WoW legends, which some readers have received before the book's official launch date. The story's narrator starts by speaking of Chromie as he or she, however buy WoTLK Gold, when Chromie experiences a right-of-way of passage, referred to as the Visage Ceremony, the character is identified as she or her in both her dragon and gnome forms.

@SteveDanuser hi! Lots of people have questions regarding your Chromie story. There's a bit of confusion regarding the reveal, and it would be helpful for you by educating us. Are they supposed to make her trans (always she) or gender fluid (she is a gnome, she as a dragon)?
Although many fans have been wondering if Chromie was trans or gender-fluid It's nice to witness Blizzard make it official and reveal the character's background after all these years.
Chromie isn't the only trans-character in the WoW universe, but she is certainly the most well-known. Her first appearance was in the original version of WoW as an NPC who gave quests in a deserted inn located within the Western Plaguelands. Since then, she's been involved in any WoW storyline that deals with time travel, and has recently been more prominently integrated in the gameplay as an NPC who lets players get older expansions through the overhaul of the game's leveling system that occurred prior to the release of the game's latest expansion, Shadowlands. Chromie is also featured in the announcement for WoW Classic, where she declares with conviction that "someone once said that you could never return to your home after a while, but they did not have vision -- and a time discombobulator." Chromie is playable in Blizzard's abandoned MOBA, Heroes of the Storm also.
WoW players remain in wait since players of Shadowlands are still waiting for the expansion's first major content update WoW WoTLK Classic Gold, Chains of Domination, as WoW Classic players are getting ready to go through into the Dark Portal with the arrival of The Burning Crusade Classic on 1 June.
