Guyana president says 2009 national budget debate is 'child's play'
GEORGETOWN, Guyana: President Bharrat Jagdeo on Thursday lashed out at
parliamentarians over the quality of their contribution to Guyana's
2009 national budget currently being debated in the national assembly
as he claimed most contributors have lost sight of the real issues.
issues arising in the National Assembly, he said, are mostly frivolous
and the speakers are losing sight of the big picture, adding that even
when suggestions are made in a peripheral way on how to respond to this
global crisis, it is done flippantly.
