Absolutely nothing wrong with it! It's an EXCELLENT pretend play more bonuses toy. My son got one when he was 2 and it was a huge hit for a long time. It was money well spent. I can see not being happy about it if it was a pink Barbie kitchen for a boy. I personally never got my son 'girly' stuff, but to me a kitchen is perfectly gender neutral. My husband cooks all the time, so he never thought anything of it either. And my dh isn't one that would allow his son to have a Barbie doll. I'll be the odd one out to say they're overrated. My daughter has one and basically ignores it, even if we're there playing with it with her. It's just not her thing. She much prefers to just talk with us or sing or play with her baby dolls/stuffed animals or color. Recently, she thinks it's a big hoot to give a wrong answer (like asking us what color something is and telling us it's the wrong color, or saying mama is a boy and dada a girl, or saying she's 5 years old, or telling us to count or name letters and doing it wrong, etc.)
